Hey guys,
Here is the complete map pack for the United League Season 5. As you will see, the pack includes maps for Round 1-7 for all the non D1 division, while the D1 teams will play roughly the same schedule of maps. As usual, a nice mix of new mappers and a lot of known names as well as several cooperative maps (two from the CMC team). UL5 Complete Map Pack.

You only need very basic bug avoiding on this one, and I certainly don't see anything unavoidable. But maybe I'm just too noob to see how the fastest drivers do it...

well... round 5 snow map is wonderful :D moderate difficulty and nice flow.
but round 1 snow map... not my taste, sry.
i cant understand what is so complicated: simply do not put something like this in a leaguetrack: checkpoint-uphill-passage-speeders imo an absolute no go because you will lose soooo much time when you have to respawn :P

Well, that's better than the first version of that map, where the majority of the respawns where plain broken. Couldn't finish at all. I guess that one problem remained after the last minute updates :P

hm where did attack you like you attack me right now? oh yes CMC, sry zooz not everyone is a progamer. and tell me, how to do that jump with the ice passage? i get often get there ab bug and can't do the jump. respawn takes ~ 10 secs. yeah great. where is the alternative route? and: there are 2 other posts from people that say, that this map shouldn't be in this league. can't you take criticism? obviously not.

Critisicm looks a lot different than what you're delivering here right now!
First of all, yes the ice-jump is a bit iffy, i noticed that, but with the right line i made it 80% of the time right now. and the rest is really just technique to ensure good landings and there's nothing too special about it, that only "D1-progamers" could do it.
And i very much doubt you've learned all that is to be learned about that map in just one or two days. You have a whole week of possible training ahead of you, and with time passing you will find the bugfree lines as well i'm sure.
So be a bit patient and train the maps, and the map will seem less horrifying.
And don't expect a respectfull answer if you start the duscussion off with "The map is crap, how could you stupid blind admins not see that!"

Well, I noticed the problem with the ice when I searched for cuts, and I would have commented on it if I did the early phase testing. It works very well when you drive the passage before as you are supposed to, without taking the boost. The problem is that the passage before is a bit difficult and it's easy to make a small mistake and lose speed there. Then the ice passage becomes difficult - either you jump too short or you decide to use the boost and jump too far. The best strategy might be to respawn and use the boost when you make a mistake in the roundabout thingy before.
@dawnfire: Don't worry about Zooz. This looks like one of his ironic comments that noone understands is humour the first time they see it ^^

Well, I merely replaced what dawnfire said and turned it around to emphasize the ridiculousness of his wording. It's funny how he doesn't even see that. Also, what feanor said.
I honestly never had an issue with the ice part yet, so I didn't see that as a problem. I thought it was about all the jump landings in general. For the ice part, you just have to land on the slope, and even when respawning you get the right speed for it. I guess it can be tricky to aim, but that's just the nature of narrow sections. It also helps to go left a tiny bit through the sideways booster to get a bit more speed.
Also, I made that previous joke comment as a player, not as a league admin.

Ah, I think I see the problem now. Some people take the respawn boost even when not respawning. I guess the solution then is either to slow down a bit before the jump (you can learn to get the timing right with training) or try to go fast enough that you don't need the respawn booster. I didn't think that anyone would do that when testing it, although that booster was only added in a last-minute update so I didn't exactly investigate it extensively.

Well, another part that i wanted to ask. Is anyone haveing strange lags on the R1 Island map?
My sound keeps turning on and off and i dont know why ^^. Its not my speakers, just the TM music. I keep hearing my car.
Also, the buggy section under the quarterpipe crossing a tunnelentrance/exit is evil. No sure way to come across that without bumping tilting and sliding.

Yeah, the ice part is fine if you don't take the "respawn boost". The next jump is the one where you can have a bigger chance of a bug, but that one is avoidable by taking off on the side of the ramp so you land on two wheels.
Nevertheless, there are a lot of players who don't know how to avoid bugs, and I can certainly sympathise with them here.
And Quik, I think Maruk said he was having big lag problems on the Island map too.

As far as I have found the bugs can be avoided by attempting to land slightly on two wheels by flicking the car sideways as you take off.
If you have problems driving the snow map, download a pro drivers replay and copy his skills^^

Desert and Island seem to be very nice, not too difficult and quite fun.

and yes, as usual, when something lags with a map below 3000 coppers on island (definitely not the most laggy environment), clearing the cache usually saves the day, since there is no reason for a map like that to lag at all.

I always give the CMC maps and my own maps a small penalty in voting unless it's really damn good and all the other admins agree, or unless I didn't like the map anyway (this happens to JJ's maps quite a bit :P).
Still, I guess league drivers know what league drivers want to drive, and in combination with a bunch of mapping experience that may lead to good tracks.
Also, Jumperjack mass-produces tracks so some are bound to get in eventually, and the CMC cooperative maps thing just seems to work out quite well.

very very very good job tuta. this track deserves to be chosen after all. it is sooo addicting... all bugs are avoidable and i cant get enough of that track :) flow is superb!

It's good on overall but I just don't understand the necessity of some parts. Right after the very beginning: Why that do-the-slalom-faster-than-human-beings-can-react drop?
At 20 secs: Why a required landing on 2 metres amplitude? Just let out the obstacle in the middle of the road and let the turns decide over the laps.
And finally as Quik already mentioned: Is there a way to release safely from the tunnelentrance? In 80%, I simply dash confusingly down to the road and unevidably join the opposite wall.
If there is a simple way which can be taken from Div1-9 okay but I really doubt the suitability for noobs.
I was really hoping for some oldschool "easy" maps without this boom-headshot stuff. Good drivers will always be faster :(

but regarding the map i can agree on some parts... it is just like with this red parts on alpine which split the way. everytime i am asking myself why they are in some maps. they only make a hard track impossible to drive^^
in this case this zig-zag-part in the beginning is really evil. its like flying with a jet through a hairpin-needle...

zooz: hehe. ^^ now there are some opinions. :p and i'm not a massproducer really, but if my maps from over a year ago were refused, and i rework them again and again (and again ^^ ), i get more and more of them in my 'finished tracks' folder. having a boring week and build 25 tracks isn't helping either. ^^
although, to be very honest, as i've kind of uploaded the best of them right now, i don't really like the rest of the tracks i've finished by now, so get ready for some fresh and more original ones proposed next time. ;)

Well, you dont NEED to go slalom with insane speeds :p. For me its possible fullspeed no slide even, so i guess you could slow down a bit ^^. Also, slow down for the jump after. If you jump less far, you land in the water less fast, because you would need a worse jumpangle than with insane speed.
Its just about doing what fits your skill. And isnt that on all tracks the same?

I admit this track is the hardest concerning tight chicanes, and at least i missed the tunneldrop as that problematic in testing. but at this time i have about 85-90% a good landing on it, so i think it is possible to make it consistently.
But actually all Islandtracks this season feature that slalom-block, but it's always possible fullspeed, and on the other two tracks it's a lot slower and less problematic.

I think the island track is nice and not too hard.
I am able to drive the chicane in fullspeed but I wont do it in a match anyway because of the risk. Beter to lose 0,5 sec than crash :-)
I have low 58 and I am island noob. It shows that the track is playable :-P

I didn't like JJ's track either because it's so plain. I put it 13th of 18...
And for the voting lower: There'll likely always be some kind of implicit bias that you don't really realise you have, either for the map style or for the author, so I do it to compensate for that.
And Sandder's map was already selected in LE10 testing, that was before all the difficulty complaints were posted. Same for NoO Spideuh and Through Elven Woods.
And even then, we don't want to exclude ALL difficult maps I think, mappack diversity is good. Just not have as many of them as in LE10.
