You know the drill, don't you. Registrations are now open and you can register using the option on the left of the site.
The will be no rule change compared to UL3, and this must probably one of the first time ever in the history of the league. So maybe we reached some sort of maturity, after all. :p
Schedule for the upcoming 2 weeks:
- Sept 18: registrations are open
- Sept 21: end of the admin votes for the map pack
- Sept 22: map pack announcement (mappers will then sent me their selected maps with the appropriate tag in front)
- Sept 23: Division proposal topic on the forum
- Sept 24: complete map pack (Round 1-7) release
- Sept 26: end of division discussion and schedule creation
- Oct 1: start of UL4
Enjoy,
Mazz

"no rule change" sounds good, but what was the latest verdict on the "o"-key discussion? (I found the "Upload/download limitation"-section in the rules and assume that pressing "o" should be disabled, but I'm too blind to find anything about it, sry).
Posted by Lolo from 90.21.213.xxx on 21 September 2008, 12:16
I think the rule is: "ForceShowAllOpponents" should be enable.
But, if both team agree, no one can forbid them to use the "O" key during the match.

Haha, would love to be in your division, Bram. :p
Posted by NBAA from 212.251.177.xxx on 21 September 2008, 16:08
The last verdict on the O-key rule in SL4 was:
"The "0" key: The standard league play requires to play a 3 vs 3 game in Team mode. Therefore, the use of the "0" key should be restricted to the players on Cam3 mode. Hiding the other cars is not allowed."
Posted by NBAA from 212.251.177.xxx on 21 September 2008, 16:09
Typo: Not SL4, but SL5.
Posted by Lolomax from 90.21.213.xxx on 21 September 2008, 16:52
I'm not sure about it, NBAA :)
If "ForceShowAllOponnents" is disabled, then every players are able to hide all the cars, even if they don't play with the 3rd camera.
In the first TMUF version, there was no "HideToClose" when "ForceShowAllOponnents" was on, and that was the problem for Cam3 players. With the different patches, it's now fixed, so I guess playing ET-Leagues hiding oponnents is just forbidden now, even if both teams agree about allowing it during their matches (what should happen very rarely).
Maybe I'm totally wrong about the end of the "O" key discussion, but that's how I understood it ;)
Posted by XR~MasterGary from 81.83.71.xxx on 21 September 2008, 17:03
I understood it just as lolomax did !
The o-key is forbidden as far as I know.
And please don't re-start a discussion here :p as it's playable for everyone with the different patches/fixes (even for cam3 players)
Posted by Fleckman from 79.230.224.xx on 21 September 2008, 17:30
Exactly the way I see it, but I can neither find it in the rules, nor the "server settings"-thread in the forum.
If it's just me going blind, that wouldn't be a problem (and explain a lot about my driving^^), but if it really was left out of the rules, there are bound to be some "players" who will take advantage of this.
Posted by QuikSilver from 85.145.32.xx on 22 September 2008, 15:54
lolo is absolutely right.
that was the whole point which got fixed.
Posted by Insomnia from 84.61.146.xxx on 23 September 2008, 13:22
After the fix, the Cam3 problem is not existent anymore. So if you're playing on a dedicated server, you should set the "ForceShowOpponents" setting. We'll add this in the rules soon.

thx to the admins. :)
Posted by Atze-Peng from 77.184.50.xxx on 23 September 2008, 18:01
then please but it in the rules Insomnia. Otherwise there will come problems.
Posted by Atze-Peng from 77.184.50.xxx on 23 September 2008, 18:01
Not only doing Copy&paste from UL3 xD
Posted by NBAA from 212.251.177.xxx on 23 September 2008, 19:02
Regarding the O-button rule;
What do we do if we don't have a dedicated server?
Posted by Insomnia from 84.61.166.xxx on 23 September 2008, 19:19
@Atze: It IS in the rules since I posted, read powah!
@NBAA: If you don't have a dedicated server, there is no setting like this, and therefore no way to proof if someone used it or not.
Posted by Fleckman from 79.230.243.xx on 23 September 2008, 21:53
thx, Inso.
It might be a good idea to also update the sticky "server settings"-thread as new team will probably look there as well.
Posted by mazzyfred from 212.63.234.x on 24 September 2008, 11:26
a dedicated server is not mandatory in any way, since there is no way we can check every game to see if the proper server rule is applied, and furthermore, we cannot ask teams to start scrambling to by dedicated servers... so, you can perfectly play without taking care of the rule...
but if someone wants to play on a dedicated server with the 0 button off, they are to be given the preference, and the other team must be ready to play according to the '0' button rule.
in competitions where we "control" the servers like FET or GC, it is a different story though, since the '0' button will be off all the time.
Posted by Insomnia from 84.61.141.xxx on 24 September 2008, 13:33
Yeah if both teams agree to do something different, we cannot do much against it. If you agree to play 3vs3 Chess, and enter a 2-1 afterwards, we cannot avoid it :D
